GE BRINGS GOOD THINGS TO LIFE!
People skate on the ice of the GE Ice Plaza in downtown Vancouver on Saturday. Winter Olympics chiefs announced they will not sanction a desperate last-minute venue switch despite unseasonably warm temperatures continuing to curse Cypress Mountain, the host of the freestyle events at the Games which begin on Friday.

FACE IT, THE STREETS HAVE SOME GAME!
A man walks past billboards showing Canadian Winter Olympic athletes near the Main Press Centre for the 2010 Games, in downtown Vancouver on Friday. Vancouver recorded its warmest January on record, marked by a lack of snow. Currently there is only snow at higher mountain elevations, and even there Games organizers had to move 300 truck-loads of snow to two courses on Cypress Mountain, on the city's edge, that will host snowboarding and freestyle skiing.
